I have been a horse lover all my life, but did not become a horse owner until about 4 years ago. I purchased my first TWH in 2008. Nicholas Allowishes Eh? (aka Nick) was a very handsome 5 year old gelding. A big sorrel with flaxen mane and tail, Nick is a real head turner. Unfortunately, Nick's temperment required much more attention and talent that I could provide. So I sold Nick to a wonderful couple in sunny Norco, CA who are providing him with a great home in an equestrian community. About 3 years ago, we bought Bo Jangles Jammin' , a wonderful and talented SSH that has been the primary mount of my son Tanner and wife Becky (Pucky). He has a great temperment and has proven to be a reliable trail horse and a successful show horse. We feel so lucky to have found him at a small farm in southern Illinois. Last August, I bought a 2 year old Blue Roan TWH gelding from Swift Walkn' Farm in Tennessee. He has a remarkably calm and gentle temperment for such a young horse. Mark 'Em Up Blue (or Blue for short) is still growing and is already pushing 15.3 hands. He will likely be well over 16 hands when fully developed. He has a very nice natural 4 beat gait and has proven to be quiet and steady on the trails. At 2 1/2 years, he is already a great horse. I can't imagine what he will bcome when he gains a couple more years of maturity. This summer, I plan to introduce him to the show circuit and expand his trail riding experiences. When I am not tending the horses, I serve as the City Manager of Normal, IL. Unfotunately, my job keeps me very busy and limits the amount of time that I can "play" with the horses. When I retire in 6 to 7 years, my wife and I hope to buy a small horse farm and make our current hobby a full time activity. I was recently elected to the IWHA Board of Directors in 2012. I look forward to getting more involved in the IWHA and to helping to promote the fantastic Tennessee Walking Horse breed in Illinois.
